What’s Going on With the Cannabis Vaping Industry?

What do sustainable goods, space technology and cannabis have in common? They’re all some of the most promising industries in America. As more states move towards legalization, the cannabis industry continues to grow in reach and innovation. In recent years, we have seen an abundance of cannabis products most of us would never have even thought possible: From pot soda to cannabis asthma inhalers, the possibilities seem endless. But there is still concern about the safety of new products, especially regarding vapes. As these cannabis vaping products directly enter lungs and blood, the government has prioritized implementing regulations that benefit both producer and consumer.

Why are vapes problematic?

Mehran Moghaddam is the CEO of Kurvana, a cannabis company that specializes in oil cartridges for vaping. According to Moghaddam, vaping is one of the most popular and fastest-growing categories in the industry because of its discretion and accessibility. But there is still much reluctance.

Many of the issues stem from the fact that unregulated and illegal cannabis vapes were cut with dangerous additives like vitamin E acetate and fungicide. People who illicitly sold these vapes would cut the cannabis oil with these other additives to increase profit. Now, cannabis regulatory agencies have implemented extensive regulations on these products.

“In the regulated market, especially in California, we have very strict protocols from a quality standpoint,” Moghaddam told Bold TV. From product testing to sale licenses, the government has implemented precise guidelines that have benefited the cannabis industry. By making the industry legit and allowing businesses the freedom to expand their reach, regulation has been a huge part of the boost in the industry.

So, what is safe?

Vaping could definitely be dangerous if you don’t know what’s in it. That’s why you must know what you’re buying and who you’re buying it from. Vape products purchased in dispensaries and through the regulated market are almost definitely safe. These products go through several stages of testing: Cannabis regulation agencies ensure no dangerous chemicals such as pesticides and heavy metals are in the oil.

Cannabis vapes still face a negative stigma. But with regulation and testing combined with demand, that image may soon completely change.
