This week the Trump Administration announced plans to move forward with the hard-line approach to immigration that Donald Trump promised in his campaign. How will this affect his relationship with Latino and Hispanic communities?
Republicans, in general, have a bumpy history with these groups, and with Trump’s approval ratings at 14 percent among Hispanics, can he get these voters on his side?
Conservatives are seeing a decrease in Latino and Hispanic support, perhaps because the needs of these communities are changing. We see this among Cuban Americans, for example, who used to support the GOP because they liked the Republican stance on communism, but many have since changed their views as U.S.-Cuba relations evolve.
This week, Bold TV discusses how the perceptions of the GOP are changing within Latino and Hispanic circles and why this is so important. Carrie Sheffield and Clay Aiken will be discussing these questions with guests Cathy Areu and David Grasso. Cathy is a political news analyst, former magazine columnist for The Washington Post, and a Bold contributor. David is a former Republican Staffer and an Editor for Bold. Both of our guests identify as Cuban-American, and we’re excited to hear their perspective.
For our weekly Opportunity Lives segment, we’re discussing government regulations and haircuts. We will look at controversial licensing laws in the state of Arizona that have prohibited acts like giving haircuts to the homeless or selling floral arrangements. Opportunity Lives Digital Director Shoshana Weissmann has talked to Arizona Governor Doug Ducey and will join us to discuss this issue.
We’re so excited to talk about such important and relevant topics on Bold TV, and we hope you will be a part of the conversation. Join us tomorrow at 10am ET on Facebook Live and Periscope!
