President Donald Trump’s proposed tariffs on imports have been an issue that has fueled conservative opposition for quite some time. During the primary, other Republican candidates warned of the possible fallout from slapping tariffs on Chinese or Mexican imports, and how it would affect regular middle class people.
The takeaway from most the conservative establishment was clear: That Trump should be careful, as his actions could trigger a trade war and disrupt America’s allies. Even worse, tariffs contributed to the Great Depression, and may not be a great idea during a time of tepid economic growth.

Tariffs can create more innovation and opportunity in this country. There are plenty of young, talented people who are wanting to make their way into the market. A juggernaut like Apple or Microsoft shouldn’t run an entire industry for a millennium.
If you believe in startups you wouldn’t have a problem with higher tariffs on imports. Plus, there are a lot of people who like buying imported goods and paying a higher cost for them if they can. I don’t see a problem with it.
