How to Be Productive While Working from Home

A lot of people are working remotely for the first time ever in 2020. If you aren’t used to it yet, it can be really difficult to stay productive and focused all day long. Living with other people, caring for children and undefined work hours can all make the adjustment feel next to impossible. Bold TV’s Philip Michael wants to give you some surefire tips for increasing productivity while working from home.

Here are 3 tips to keep yourself on track!

  1. Make a To-Do List. “What gets tracked gets done.” Starting your morning by making a list either on your computer or a piece of paper helps you get into the right headspace for a productive workday. It is a tangible way to track progress and helps you to commit those items to memory. It also can leave you feeling accomplished and proud by the end of the day once every item is checked off of the list.
  2. Take a break. “Get some different sensory inputs.” Taking a few moments just to step outside, or even go down to the lobby if you live in an apartment building, can just help to dig you out of a rut. Locking yourself away in a bedroom or home office for hours on end can start to feel like a jail cell. It’s good for your creativity and your happiness to take a break and breathe some new air!
  3. Work outside the home. “Go outside of the box.” If you have access to an outside office, coffee shop, restaurant or another public place that is still open and allowing seating, then go for it. A change of scenery while you work could be another great way to boost creativity. It also gives you the opportunity to get work done in a more relaxed environment, and maybe even with a friend or colleague. Remote doesn’t have to mean at home.
