Nothing sells better than when a celebrity starts to endorse something. On average, using a celebrity to advertise increases sales by 4%. This year, we truly saw some interesting dynamic duos. Here are the top 8 celebrity endorsements of 2021.
1. Justin Bieber & Tim Hortons
What’s more Canadian than Tim Hortons and Justin Bieber? That’s precisely why they did a collab. Called Timbiebs, the collab has been so successful that they created merch and can’t keep it on the shelves. The branded box included three of his favorite types of donuts.
2. The Mariah Carey Menu
In a McDonald’s special deal, The Queen of Christmas is doing a celebrity endorsement, including merch, deals, and even some free food. It launches on Dec. 13 and has 12 days of discounts and free food leading up to Christmas.
3. Megan Thee Stallion & Popeyes
Instead of getting a meal named after her, Megan Thee Stallion has her own sauce at Popeyes. The Hottie Sauce is made with aleppo pepper, honey, and cider vinegar, so it certainly has a bit of a tangy kick to it. And it goes well with the beloved chicken sandwiches.
4. The Charli D’Amelio
The queen of TikTok had an order named after her at Dunkin’. Her drink was what she bought every day: a cold brew coffee with whole milk and three pumps of caramel swirl. And it was an instant success among Gen Z TikTok stans. On the day of its debut, there was a 20% increase in cold brew sales.
5. Beyonce & Adidas
Queen Bey partnered with Adidas to release a line of athleisure wear. It’s meant to be comfortable as well as fashionable. It’s also very size-inclusive, ranging from XXXS-4XL. This collab led to a 2% increase in sales and a massive increase in online searches for Adidas.
6. Dua & Puma
The pop star Dua Lipa teamed up with Puma to do a series of ads for the shoe company. It focused mainly on the old-school lift look and gave the company a new retro look.
7. Vanessa Hudgens & Fabletics
Vanessa Hudgens is the face of the first-ever lifestyle line from Fabletics. It has that 70s retro workout vibe and offers fun colors and soft materials perfect for all sorts of daily activities.
8. The Travis Scott Meal
Rapper Travis Scott was among the first to receive a meal named after him. This was yet another deal at McDonald’s—basically a happy meal for adults. It contained a medium Sprite, a quarter pounder with bacon, and fries with barbecue sauce. This endorsement boosted sales by almost 5% during the pandemic slump. But the food chain’s use of Scott’s name has been brought into question after the tragedies at Astroworld, including the loss of a nine-year-old boy.
Celebrity endorsements for companies are nothing new and likely aren’t going anywhere. What’s your favorite?
