Metaverse Fashion Show Featuring Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Burberry

Fashion and clothing in the real world, needless to say, is a part of our everyday lives. Sweatpants at home, business casual at the work place, and athletic wear for exercise, most of us have a wide collection of clothing. So what does fashion look like in Metaverse?

Buying clothes

In the real world, we either order our clothes online or go to a store to pick them up. We also pay in US dollar. Buying clothes looks different in the Metaverse. Unique fashion pieces by big name brands are being sold as NFT’s on the blockchain. Gucci, Burberry, and Louis Vuitton have all gotten in on the virtual fashion craze. And people are buying what they are offering, via cryptocurrency of course.

Fashion Week

This past week was fashion week in the Metaverse. Reputable brands showcased their high (virtual) fashion offerings in the virtual world, Decentraland. There were virtual catwalks, viewings, and panel talks. The fashion week mirrored many of the events that take place in real-life fashion weeks. The experience was not perfect, though. Vogue noted that entering Decentraland was laggy, and a high specification computer was needed.

Dressing your avatar

You’re probably used to dressing your body. But in the Metaverse, your avatar is the wearer of all of your clothes. In the Metaverse, many standard clothing options are available for free. But, if you want to dress in exclusive clothing from offerings from big-name brands, you’ll need to connect your Ethereum wallet to be able to make a purchase. Prepare for your options to expand, as dressing in the virtual universe bypasses many of the physical restraints that exist in the real world, such as production or shortages. For designers, according to NPR, the virtual world is more accessible and allows creativity escape the bounds of training, costly materials, or access to money.
