This Entrepreneur Created An App to Rate Customer Service

We’ve all ridden in an Uber and given the driver a tip and a rating after the ride. However, there are millions of other hard-working individuals who deserve an equal opportunity to get the recognition that they deserve. Mark Bunting’s new app Grata does just that, by allowing its users to rate individual customer service in a new, fun way. Mark is a serial entrepreneur, as well as a teacher of entrepreneurship and marketing at the University of Texas — Austin. Join David Grasso and Julia Sun as they talk to Bunting about entrepreneurship and his new app Grata.

How Grata works

Bunting integrates humanity and kindness into his app because he recognizes that these hard-working human beings often are taken for granted. Grata uses emoticons with their rating system, so you can get a 5 star as the highest but even if you get a low rating, it’s only a frowny face. This gives the individual the motivation to try harder next time and not feel despair at the bad review. Similar to Uber, you also can leave written reviews with your ratings so you can write something about their customer service or hospitality.

Why it’s beneficial

What’s beneficial about the app is that these reviews are permanently a part of your record. This gives you the ability to take it with you throughout your career and to future interviews. When you apply to another workplace, you don’t just send in your resume showing where you’ve worked before, you also can show the interviewer what customers said about you. The app also works as a social media platform so you can build a community around your work. When you leave to another business you can take your client list with you.
