Welcome back to Show and Tell, where Peter Salib unboxes sweet tech for every area of your life. In this episode, Salib tries out the Evapolar EvaSMART, a personal cooling device. Is your office or cubicle always somehow 15 degrees hotter than outside? Burning up in business clothes can be distracting and uncomfortable. And what about your home? Does one room get hotter than others? This tech is designed specifically to cool small areas. It’s portable, energy efficient, quiet and minimalistic. Let’s learn more about this little chill pill.
Evapolar air is like a cool breeze
The most unique feature of the EvaSMART is that it’s an evaporative air cooler, which is different from freon air conditioners or fans. Evaporative air coolers take the warm stale air and let it pass over water-moistened pads. The air then becomes cool and slightly humid. But regular dry cooling, such as a fan, simply circulates warm dry air. Air conditioners sometimes use the cooling agent freon. But evaporative air conditioners cool the air naturally, without the use of chemicals. This device has won innovation awards in the tech industry for its humidifying and clean cooling technology.
Bells and whistles
Evapolar isn’t making just an air conditioner. Their tech comes with bells and whistles, too. First, technology today wouldn’t be cutting edge if it didn’t have smart capabilities. The EvaSMART can connect to smartphones and smart homes. Whether through the app or your smart-home device, you can adjust your device remotely. Another cool feature is the device can take power by power banks or laptops in addition to the regular wall sockets, so it’s energy-efficient. But it’s also portable, super quiet and uses LED light that syncs to music playlists. Having a personal air conditioner now has a bit of flair.
