GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson has no plans to drop out of the race. According to USA Today, Carson is staying in the race for the nation’s highest office after getting requests from his supporters to keep running in spite of coming in at the bottom of the polls heading into the South Carolina primary. During an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe talk show, Carson said he plans to stay in the race until at least March 1 after the primaries in the south.
“We are getting a lot of communications from people in those states saying, ‘Hang on until you get here, we’ve got you,” he said on the show. “And that’s good.”
Carson spoke highly of his supporters and the positive feedback he’s gotten.
“The nice thing for me is that my support comes from we the people,” Carson said on Morning Joe. “And we the people are continuing to support me very strongly and they’re saying, ‘Don’t you dare even think about getting out of here because we need you because, you know, it’s a nine-inning game.”
According to a poll by Public Policy Polling, Carson is tied for the bottom spot in the upcoming South Carolina primary with former Gov. Jeb Bush with seven percent of the vote. Carson was also a low performer in the New Hampshire primary, with 2.3 percent of the vote, RealClearPolitics.com reported.
