Are you feeling unfulfilled? Do you ever think it’s your job that’s making you feel this way? Or is it just you? You may be asking these questions right now. But, lucky for you, Bold TV’s Julia Sun sat down with author Terri Jacke to discuss her book “Is This a Lousy Job or Is It Me?” Hopefully, this conversation will ease your concerns. Or, maybe, you’ll realize it’s time to quit.
Every job has its lousy elements
When it comes to your job, keep a realistic mindset. There are lousy elements to any job, whether dealing with people who take way too much energy or doing tasks you don’t like. Take ownership of those lousy factors. Tell yourself, “This may be lousy, but I’m going to use these elements to work on myself as long as I have this job.” So, not only will you be aware of these things, but you will use them to make yourself better.
Is it time to hit the road?
If you feel like staying at your job will stunt your development, maybe it’s time to quit. If you feel like you have done everything in your power to improve, and you still hate getting up in the morning to work, then you should move on. Essential tip: Make sure you leave on a good note. Give a two-week notice, and give your replacement time to look over your responsibilities. Ultimately, be nice because you never know if you’ll need these contacts in the future.
