What’s Next for Virtual Reality?

Do you ever wish your life was a video game? The trend of virtual and augmented reality is growing, and Michael Deathless, the CEO & co-founder of VRAccelerator, tells Bold TV how far these industries might grow in the coming years. Virtual reality is when the user wears a headset and headphones to completely block out the outside world as they interact with camera-created holograms. Augmented reality is where the cameras create holograms in a room that you are already in by casting a life-sized or miniature version of the hologram.

The Future of Augmented and Virtual Reality

Both of these processes involve a complex system of stitching together what several cameras are shooting at the same time. Though the industry has made leaps and bounds in recent years, we are still 10 to 15 years away from indistinguishable augmented realities and 50 years from complete virtual realities. These technologies have found a natural home in the gaming world. They are even available to purchase for the average gaming console. However, Deathless describes how the average person may be able to use these technologies in their everyday lives.

Practical Uses For This New Technology

Virtual and augmented realities can be very useful in the world of fashion first off. Instead of paying to go to an expensive event, you can take the fashion show to your own office. You would be able to project the entire show onto a desk or table in your conference room. It also has a practical use in training. Doctors and other medical staff can spread new findings and technologies quickly to each other. Athletic trainers can schedule workouts and share techniques with clients seemingly in person. If you need to streamline work training in your office, you can program a real-time demonstration to be broadcast in several locations.
