“Girls are apprehensive until they have the right answer,” Andrea Bastiani-Archibald, an executive at Girl Scouts of the USA, told Bold TV. “They fear failure or embarrassment at a rate higher than boys. They’re not always interested in putting themselves out there.”

Bastiani-Archibald spoke with Bold TV about the “Raise Your Hand” initiative started by Girl Scouts’ own Alice Tapper, a 12-year-old-girl. The initiative encourages girls to raise their hands more to be more confident in the classroom among their male peers. Tapper has now written her own op-ed in The New York Times along with a book, and is engaging girls across the country.

Women are getting degrees at a higher rate, but does this mean we are advocating for ourselves?
