When most of us hear “negotiate your salary” or “start investing,” we get scared and put it off until we’re “grownups.” But Bobbi Rebell says we need to start now. Watch here or on our Facebook page for tips on surviving your first job, finding a mentor and how to be a financial grownup.
Today on our show, Bold Business, we had Sarah Hill, CEO of Bookstr, and Bobbi Rebell, Journalist and Author, on to educate us. We also discuss Bobbi’s new book, “How to Be a Financial Grownup: Proven Advice from High Achievers on How to Live Your Dreams and Have Financial Freedom
The two guests joined our hosts, David Grasso from GenFKD and Selena Hill from Black Enterprise, to discuss entering the workplace and how to balance being professional with being yourself.
Selena said: “I’m hearing a common theme of ‘you should be your authentic self at work.’ But I find that doesn’t always work,” she said laughing. “Like I was a little too authentic one time, so can we talk about the border line! You can’t really be yourself, can you?”
Bobbi and the guests discussed this and the other awkward dynamics we have figure out when we start our first jobs.

Financial grown up means I understood it was wrong to have 1/3 of my paycheck taxed while I was in highschool with a part-time job.
Which is why I went to a University and have a better job. Still get taxed, and view the people who run this country as idiots.
