Republicans in Manhattan are coming together to defeat Mayor Bill de Blasio in the 2017 mayoral elections.
On Monday night, the Women’s National Republican Club hosted Congresswoman Claudia Tenney (R-NY) and Assemblywoman & Mayoral Candidate Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) (pictured above) and had an open discussion on how the party would achieve this goal.
During the meeting, Congresswoman Tenney offered her support and urged the audience of Republican men and women to “stand up for what unifies us as a party” and vote for Mayoral Candidate Nicole Malliotakis.
The mayoral candidate recently announced that she would be in the running in hopes of defeating Mayor de Blasio. “We can’t let this guy walk in without holding him accountable,” Malliotakis said.
If mayoral candidate Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) wins the 2017 election, she would be the first woman mayor to be elected into office in New York. The assemblywoman said, “I will win the primary for sure. I am half cuban…my immigrant story can resonate with so many in the city. Being a woman, I can get other woman to cross over to vote Republican and I am very passionate about what I do.”
Audience members asked the Congresswoman and mayoral candidate tough questions about education, healthcare, and fair trade. Congresswoman Tenney told the audience that “not everyone should go to college” because we need “regular jobs for regular people.”
The Congresswoman asked audience members to donate not only to her campaign, but also to the mayoral candidates. Congresswoman Tenney said, “We can win this race, if we do it together.” The filing deadline for the 2017 mayoral race is this Wednesday.
