Health is very in vogue right now. More restaurants have healthy options, and more people are switching to plant-based diets. Even meat-eaters aren’t opposed to a tasty dose of fruit and veggies. More people are interested in exercise and healthy lifestyles. Entrepreneurs would be wise to enter the health food industry while it’s in demand. Desi Saran founded the Sweetberry Acai Bowls food chain after helping his friend with a smoothie stand on the New Jersey shore. He now visits Bold TV to share how he got started and what the future of the health food industry looks like.
Sweetberry and The Rise of the Health Food Industry
The healthy and fast-casual Sweetberry specializes in popular healthy food options. They go green with options such as acai bowls, smoothie bowls, smoothies, wraps, salads, vegan ice cream and poke. The demand for acai bowls has been increasing greatly in the past few years, and now poke bowls are the new trend for Sweetberry’s customers. People will pay to eat healthier, and the healthy trend only will continue to grow in the future.
The Trials of Opening a Restaurant Chain
Saran opened 12 stores in his first year, from Florida to New Jersey. They now are up to 20 locations. If they’ve had that much success, it must be easy, right? On the contrary. Through difficulties of business partnerships and long hours, Saran has found that starting a restaurant chain can be taxing on every area of life. If he had to offer advice for entrepreneurs, it would be to slow down; it’s not a race. It doesn’t matter if you eat healthy if you don’t rest your body and mind.
